‘Deadpool 3’: Hugh Jackman Says MCU Wolverine Will Be Much “Angrier, Grumpy”

Deadpool 3 Huge Jackman is back

It still seems unbelievable; Hugh Jackman will be coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in the role of Wolverine in Deadpool 3. Fans have been clamoring for a Deadpool and Logan team-up since Ryan Reynolds‘ character Deadpool first appeared on the scene and began mocking his longtime pal Logan.

Therefore, when Disney purchased 21st Century Fox, we understood that it would be a question of ‘when and how’ rather than ‘would it happen,’ and this was confirmed.

Now that this news has surfaced, we know that Jackman will have a role in Deadpool 3. Recent statements by Jackman indicate that it will be an even “angrier, grumpy” version of the most admired character.

Fans of comic book movies were taken aback at the end of September when Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds made the shocking announcement that Jackman’s Wolverine would return to the big screen in “Deadpool 3.”

The last time we saw Jackman in the role of Wolverine was in the 2017 film, Logan. What the director Ryan Reynolds has said in the past would not be referenced, since it occurred a long time ago in the chronology. Watch Wolverine movies in order of their release chronologically.

When Jackman was asked about his next assignment with the Associated Press, he expressed his enthusiasm, adding,

“It’s a lot of fun. It’s been five years and I really never thought I’d come back. And I’m really, really excited to come back.” When he was asked about his thoughts on Deadpool 3, he shied away from saying anything concrete but said, “I can tell you I’m going to have the time of my life. I can tell you I’ve started back at the gym, and I’m eating a lot, and I feel bad for the cast of The Music Man with the amount of protein shakes I’m having.” Further adding, “I do know a little bit about the script, but I’m not going to tell you.”

The actor was then asked whether he would return as a gentler version of the character as seen in the X-Men franchise or an angrier version of the character, to which he responded,

“There’s no choice,” he said adding, “He’s definitely angrier, grumpy, and he’s gonna take a lot of free shots at Ryan Reynolds, let me tell you,” before ending with, “Physically, that is.”

Jackman will appear as Wolverine for the 10th time in “Deadpool 3.” The first time that the two actors interacted together was on the set of the 2009 film “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” in which Reynolds portrayed a previous incarnation of Wade Wilson/Deadpool. Already in the middle of his run as “The Music Man” on Broadway, Jackman is making preparations to get back into Wolverine form by putting on some more muscle. “A little part of me now thinks I’d be better at it,” Jackman said about returning to his most iconic role. “Is that arrogance of age or something? Wolverine’s a tortured character — more tortured than me. But I always get the feeling of him being comfortable in his own skin. And I feel more comfortable in my own skin now, even though it’s messier.”

During the promotional tour for “Logan,” Hugh Jackman claimed on many occasions that he was serious about stepping down from his role as Wolverine. So, what caused him to alter his mind? It turns out that there was a screening of “Deadpool” in 2016.

The first time Jackman saw “Deadpool” was before he started filming “Logan,” but by that time, he had already announced that “Logan” would be the last time he would play Wolverine in a movie.

“I went to a screening of ‘Deadpool.’ I was 20 minutes in, and I was like, ‘Ah, damn it!’” Jackman said. “All I kept seeing in my head was ‘48 Hrs.’ with Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy. So it’s been brewing for a long time. It just took me longer to get here.”

Jackman said that Reynolds had been pleading to him “on the daily” about doing a Wolverine-Deadpool movie. Still, it wasn’t until August that Jackman finally agreed to play Wolverine again.

This was even though Reynolds had been eager to bring Wolverine into the fold for over three years (Jackman said that Reynolds had been eager to bring Wolverine into the fold for over three years).

“I think, actually, he’d given up,” Jackman said. “I think it was a big shock to him. There was a massive pause, and then he said, ‘I can’t believe the timing of this.’”

Jackman put away the claws after the events of Logan, and ever since then, fans have been holding out hope that he’ll use them again. It wasn’t until last month that Ryan Reynolds revealed Jackman’s return in a surprise video released after D23.

The pair then made another video to explain fans’ perplexity, but this time they did so in a genuinely entertaining way. Just as they begin to discuss the situation, background music begins to play and drowns out everything that they are saying. This serves to increase the supporters’ enthusiasm.

It has not yet been determined what the next film’s plot will be. Even the title, “Deadpool 3,” is not certain at this point. Jackman continued by saying, “Well, not in my heart. I’m pretty sure Wolverine wouldn’t like that title.”

The release of “Deadpool 3” is scheduled for the 8th of November in 2024.
