France was not victorious in the World Cup final, but Kylian Mbappe was awarded the Golden Boot by FIFA for scoring the most goals during the competition.

In the enthralling championship game that took place at Lusail Stadium on Sunday, he had two assists and scored a total of eight goals, three of which were scored against Argentina.

Lionel Messi, Argentina’s captain, and PSG teammate finished second with seven goals and three assists.

Julian Alvarez, a teammate of Lionel Messi, ended in third place with five goals, while Olivier Giroud, a player for France, failed to add to his total of four goals after being taken out of the game during the first half of the final competition.

Mbappe’s ‘eight goals total’ in Qatar is the combined maximum at a World Cup since Gerd Muller did score 10 times in the year 1970 and as well as Ronaldo 8 in 2002, but that will come with such little gratification to the forward following France’s heartbreaking loss.

Exciting competition ensued between the 23-year-old and the Argentina captain Messi, who was tied with him on five goals going into Sunday’s game. The younger player trailed Messi twice in their battle for the lead.

Lionel Messi scored the opening goal of the game with a penalty kick after Ousmane Dembele was called for a foul on Angel Di Maria, he became the first player in the history of the World Cup to achieve 20 goal involvements. Angel Di Maria then finished off a flowing move to put Argentina up 2-0.

However, with ten minutes still remaining to play, Mbappe was presented with the opportunity to climb back into the battle at the top of the goal-scoring standings. After Nicolas Otamendi was penalized for a foul on Randal Kolo Muani, he successfully converted a penalty kick from the spot.

Mbappe subsequently claimed the lead in the competition for the Golden Boot in a remarkable 97 seconds of play to put himself in front of the pack. After that, he forced extra time with a first-time volley that he scored past Emiliano Martinez’s defense. Because of this goal, Mbappe has risen to the top in the race for the “Golden Boot.”

Messi put Argentina back in ahead with a poke in extra time, he seemed to have clinched the honor and the title for his country once again, but Mbappe answered with another penalty kick after Gonzalo Montiel was called for a handball.

As a result of his goal in the 2018 World Cup final victory against Croatia, Mbappe currently holds the record for the most goals scored by a player in a World Cup final. Furthermore, Mbappe’s total of 12 goals scored in the tournament ties him with Pele, who won the event three times.

Mbappe became the second player in the history of the World Cup to score a hat trick in the championship game. Geoff Hurst of England was the last person to successfully accomplish this feat in 1966. He also expressed his affection for Mbappe, regardless of the final result:

His devoted followers express their affection for him in the following manner:

“We are witnessing a big legend in the making,” said French fan Thierry Tiquant.

“We did not deserve to lose. Mbappe did not deserve to lose. That performance will be remembered forever.”

Mbappe clinched the title of Golden Boot winner with his hat-trick; he finished the tournament in Qatar with a total of eight goals scored.

“He really tried. He was the best player on the pitch today. I know many people will talk about Messi. But he played better than Messi tonight,” Maurice Toussaint said.

In Lusail, he scored one of his 10 World Cup goals, making him the youngest player to ever do so at the age of 23 years and 363 days. He broke the German player Gerd Muller of 24 years, 226 days.

Mbappe already has 11 goals in World Cup competition, and he will still just be 27 years old when the next tournament rolls around, making him a terrifying proposition for his opponents.

“Mbappe is the future,” Malcolm Joseph said. “There is no player his age who is even close to how good he is. He is unbelievable.”
