Nicole Kidman Wins Hugh Jackman’s ‘The Music Man’ Hat at Charity Auction to Support AIDS Patients

Nicole Kidman Wins Hugh Jackman’s ‘The Music Man’ Hat at Charity Auction to Support AIDS Patients

At a charity fundraiser conducted on Saturday for the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS event at the Winter Garden Theatre, Nicole Kidman made an incredible offer for the hat that her fellow Australian friend Hugh Jackman wore in his run in the resurrected version of The Music Man.

Nicole Kidman is very aware of the significance of Australians standing by other Australians.

The Academy Award winner, who is 55 years old, brought the audience at the Winter Garden Theatre to their feet when she paid $100,000 for her friend Hugh Jackman’s hat from his starring run in Broadway’s revival of The Music Man.

Likewise, we find another occurrence where Meghan Trainor once brought JoJo Siwa to tears with a $100,000 donation to her childhood cancer foundation.

Hugh Jackman wrote on Twitter accompanying a video of the hilarious scene that took place during the concert on Saturday. “The generosity emanating from #NicoleKidman leaves me speechless! You ARE amazing. Thank you for your friendship and support!”

In the video, Jackman and his co-star, Nicholas Ward, can be seen dressed in character while conducting the auction onstage. They urge the crowd to outbid the existing bid of $19,000.

When Nicole Kidman responds and cries out, “a hundred thousand,” the audience bursts into applause and Hugh Jackman’s jaw drops as the actress goes down the theater aisle to give him a hug while wearing a stylish oversized men’s black suit.

“Nic! I just want to be clear, this is not Australian dollars,” Jackman approached Kidman, with whom he co-starred in Baz Luhrmann’s 2008 romantic comedy Australia.

After that, Kidman made her way back to the stage and spoke into a microphone, saying: “I love you, I love Broadway. I love what they do, Broadway Cares. But I also want to say the show was extraordinary.”

Jackman handed her the hat, which she put on briefly before returning to her previous location. “I’ve known Nic for almost 30 years. I’ve worked with her. I can tell you, this is not a surprise. She’s one of the most generous souls I know. You’re a beautiful, beautiful person. I love you,” the hosting actor said.

In addition, Jackman shared the event on Instagram with the caption, “The generosity and love emanating from Nicole Kidman leaves me speechless. Thank you Nic for your friendship and support!”

When Kidman reacted to the message, the mutual admiration from the society continued: “Darling Hugh, to my friend of 30 years. Right back at you, such a generous, gorgeous man, it was a brilliant night in the theater and an honor to be able to donate to BCEFA! Congratulations to the talented cast.”

Broadway Cares confirmed people in a statement in which they verified the amount of Kidman’s contribution as follows: “Broadway Cares is blessed with friends across Broadway. But we have no greater champion than Hugh Jackman. This extraordinary gift from his pal Nicole Kidman is by far the largest donation for any one auction item ever. There is much for which to be grateful this Thanksgiving weekend!”

The event occurred during the last week of Broadway Cares’ Red Bucket Fall Fundraising Campaign, which raises money to “provide meals and medication, health care and hope for those living with HIV/AIDS, struggling with COVID-19 or facing other life-threatening challenges this holiday season.”
