Selena Gomez Explains how She First Revealed Her Bipolar Diagnosis: It Gave Me so Much Courage

Salena Gomez

Selena Gomez, the singer, and actress, who is now 30 years old, appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Program for the episode that aired on Wednesday.

She talks about the documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me, which will be available exclusively on Apple TV+. Furthermore, Selena Gomez opens up about her mental health.

She emphasized how poignant the documentary had become. Clarkson is shown in an earlier footage from the program marveling to Gomez about her honesty in the video.

The film contains chats regarding the “Calm Down” musician’s bipolar diagnosis, lupus, and mental health difficulties. Clarkson was really impressed by her openness. She has also been, though at other places, discussing the need to maintain good mental health and the critical nature of removing stigmatization.

Apple TV gives a peak into the world of Selena Gomez, while announcing the release of her documentary in the first week of November.

In the year 2020, the star of Only Murders in the Building went to McLean Hospital, where she spoke out about her diagnosis of bipolar disorder for the first first time in public.

Gomez clarified to Clarkson that the event included in the film was a significant occasion for her at the time and continues to be so today.

“It’s one of the best hospitals for — they’re kind of covering everything in the mental health space. So, I was able to say my diagnosis out loud for the first time,” Gomez recalled. “And it gave me such strength, and — it wasn’t easy.”

The vocalist who sang “Wolves” revealed to Kelly Clarkson that she did have some concerns over the publication of the documentary, despite the fact that it was essential that the film carries a “Really Personal” feel to it.

“I’m kind of scared,” Gomez said. “A lot of people are going to see this whole other side of me — and I’m like, ‘I hope they like it.’ “

Clarkson soon replied to Gomez’s worry by saying she enjoyed the candid documentary “It’s such a filtered world,” she says, adding, “it’s so powerful and refreshing.” We’re from different generations, and I feel like you and younger people simply filter anything online. That is not real life. And it will benefit a large number of individuals that see this.”

A bashful Gomez delivered her response: “I hope so because I am so nervous.”

The pop sensation and actress paid a return to the community in Grand Prairie, Texas, where she had spent her youth in an exclusive clip from the soon-to-be-released documentary.

“I think Selena really anchors herself when she goes back to Texas. She seems to get energy by being in the presence of her past,” director Alek Keshishian — known for his work on Madonna: Truth or Dare — told PEOPLE. “She doesn’t look down on anybody, she is right there with the people — that’s what makes her unique. She feels as much love for her past as she does for her future.”

In the endearing moment, Gomez spends some time with a childhood friend who now has young kids who, as one would expect, go into a frenzy when they meet the famous star.

“Yeah, she’s real!” Gomez’s friend tells her daughter. “Mommy went to school with her.”

This coming Friday, November 4, 2022, Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me will make its debut on Apple TV in which she will talk about her Bipolar Diagnosis, which strengthened and energized her.
