After India secured a place in the final and Bangladesh’s exit from the Asia Cup tournament, one team between Pakistan and Sri Lanka can clinch the remaining second spot. 

Only Sri Lanka can deny you a chance to watch India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 in Canada as Babar Azam’s men are eyeing a historic showdown clash with India in the Asia Cup final.

However, this year’s event designated hosts have a tough opponent in Sri Lanka, who have a talented young squad. 

Rising star Dunith Wellalage upped his game to match up against the world-class batting lineup of Rohit Sharma’s men in blue in their Super Four clash on Tuesday. 

The young bowler took the prized scalps of Rohit, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, and Hardik Pandya in the nail-biting contest at the R Premadasa Stadium. But not even Wellalage’s prowess with both bat and ball could prevent India from beating Sri Lanka in the 10th match of the Asia Cup. 

Rohit smashed a brilliant innings, and Kuldeep Yadav spun his magic to give India a 41-run victory. With this win, India became the first team to qualify for the final of 2023. India’s win also knocked out Bangladesh from the tournament.

India cementing a place in the final and Bangladesh’s exit mean that either Pakistan or Sri Lanka can join them in the title clash. Sri Lanka will face Pakistan in Thursday’s last Super 4 game of the Asia Cup. 

Sri Lanka will hope to use their home advantage against Pakistan at the Premadasa Stadium in this crucial match for a place in the final on Sunday.

If the game is abandoned due to rain, the team with a better net run rate will go to the final with India. Sri Lanka has an edge over Pakistan in terms of net run rate, with both teams tied on points.

With nothing short of a victory needed, Pakistan must beat Sri Lanka in their last Super 4 game to book their spot in the historic final against India. India and Pakistan have never played each other in a 50-over Asia Cup final before. 

India has won the Asia Cup seven times, while Pakistan has won it twice.
