Disney+ scored with Extraordinary. The evening also honored individuals for their impactful contributions to TV, including a special award to Dame Esther Rantzen for her pioneering work in broadcasting.
Here’s an excerpt from the tribute to her:
This evening The Royal Television Society is honouring a legendary broadcaster and producer with one of its most prestigious accolades, the Gold Medal. This is awarded only very occasionally, and the recipient is just the second woman to receive it. Tonight, the RTS Gold Medal is presented to recognise the extraordinary career of Dame Esther Rantzen.
The Royal Television Society (RTS) brings TV fans and pros together through such award shows. It’s a charity that supports TV work, offering insights into how shows are made and celebrating new talent.
The RTS hosts awards for different TV fields, provides scholarships to help newcomers, and runs events where industry leaders share future TV trends. Major broadcasters support it and welcome anyone interested in TV, with activities across the UK.
