The beloved Saturday night quiz show The Weakest Link will return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer later this year, with Romesh Ranganathan hosting for the fourth time.
Romesh says:
It’s really a delight to be part of the BBC One Saturday night experience. I once again look forward to taking the credit if it goes well and blaming the format if it doesn’t.

The original UK version was famously hosted by Anne Robinson, whose stern demeanor and sharp wit contributed to the show’s popularity. Her style set a precedent for hosts in other countries to adopt a similarly strict and sometimes sarcastic manner.
This iteration, produced by BBC Studios Entertainment Productions, promises an exciting lineup of celebrities competing in the globally renowned quiz.
Here, celebrities team up to accumulate a cash prize for charity while striving to avoid elimination and being labeled “The Weakest Link” by their peers. Ultimately, only one contestant will earn the title of The Strongest Link and win the cash prize for their chosen charity.
This season introduces a variety of special episodes featuring themes such as Strictly Come Dancing, comedians, Gladiators, and pairs, with additional themes to be revealed. Production is set to start in Glasgow this spring, with the series airing on BBC One and BBC iPlayer later in the year.
Celebrity participant details will be released soon.
According to 28-day data, “The Weakest Link” is maintaining an average viewership of 3.5 million per episode, consistent with the previous series. It reached a peak viewership of 4.4 million during the EastEnders special.
The series, comprising 14 one-hour episodes, is a creation of BBC Studios Entertainment for BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Kalpna Patel-Knight, the BBC’s Head of Entertainment, commissioned the series.
