Paramount+ is advancing its international presence by introducing an ad-supported Basic tier in Canada and Australia, with launches scheduled for April and June respectively. This strategic move is complemented by introducing a premium subscription tier in Europe, starting with France.

The Basic tier offers an affordable viewing experience at C$6.99 in Canada and A$6.99 in Australia. In contrast, the premium tier in France is set at €10.99 per month, providing access to high-quality streams and additional device connectivity.

The roll-out of Paramount+’s various subscription tiers is part of the company’s broader strategy to adapt to market demands by offering flexible, value-driven options to consumers.

The premium tier’s success in countries like Canada, Australia, and Latin America underscores the global appetite for Paramount+’s content, including hits like “Star Trek: Discovery” and “Tulsa King.”

This expansion is pivotal for Paramount Global, especially after scaling back original content plans in most territories, focusing on markets where it operates free-to-air networks.

Marco Nobili, EVP and International General Manager of Paramount+, emphasized the importance of a tailored pricing strategy and market-by-market approach.

He highlighted the potential of the premium tier to attract new subscribers in Europe and the competitive advantage offered by the Basic tier’s pricing, aimed at broadening the platform’s reach and enhancing its advertising portfolio. He said,

Our pricing strategy and a market-by-market approach to our offerings is key to providing customers choice, flexibility, and value.

The introduction of the Basic and premium tiers reflects Paramount+’s commitment to leading on value and choice in the streaming landscape.

The company’s strategy to offer an affordable entertainment option while maintaining content quality and accessibility is evident in its recent executive appointment, promoting Beverley McGarvey to President of Network 10 and Head of Streaming for Australia and New Zealand.
