The catch for which Kane Williamson was accused of cheating during T20 World Cup 2022 match against England has been in the headlines lately.

At the Gabba on Tuesday night, England came out swinging and faced up against New Zealand in a T20 World Cup match that they absolutely had to win.

Opening batsman Jos Buttler and Alex Hales put the pedal to the floor from the first ball as they took the New Zealand bowling attack to the dagger. As a result, they set up a 20-run triumph for their team, which means that Australia needs a miracle in order to qualify for the semifinals. However, debate raged in the fifth over, with England at 0/45. Buttler sliced the third delivery of Mitchell Satner’s second over in the air, 8 runs, with Kane Williamson diving and collecting a sensational catch.

Buttler started to walk away as the umpires gathered to discuss whether the catch had been taken. Williamson motioned to the umpires that he had fumbled, but he eventually made the catch.

Replays indicated that the ball had bobbled out of Williamson’s hands and landed on the grass before the Kiwi star clasped it to his chest.

Buttler returned to the crease, and Williamson made a brief apology, which the English opener waved off with a grin.

Even though Williamson offered an apology when replays showed that he did not hold on to the ball, many who were watching the competition were unhappy with his assertion that he had made the catch.

Hales and Buttler proceeded on their journey back, bringing their partnership up to 81 when Satner dismissed the dangerous Hales soon after he reached his half century. Buttler was able to reach his century thanks to his partnership with Hales.

Buttler was dismissed for 41 in the 12th over following a pull shot that was played straight to Daryl Mitchell. Getting out the first time wasn’t enough for Buttler, so he was dismissed again.

The English captain was able to withstand yet another challenge despite dropping what ought to have been an easy catch and allowing it to fall to the ground.

Finally, Buttler made the New Zealanders pay for their mistakes in a manner that was devastating, scoring 65 extra runs after Williamson’s catch fell to the ground.

After he failed in his attempt to steal a single and was eventually left stranded and out by Williamson, he was forced to leave the game.

After finishing their innings, England had 6/179, which meant that New Zealand faced an enormous run total and needed to score nine runs each over in order to win the match. “This is enough to conclude the match event”
